Mandatory Android Mobile Client Update
Mandatory Android Mobile Client Update
NEC is providing this notice to let UNIVERGE BLUE CONNECT users who are utilising the Mobile Client on
an Android device of an upcoming mandatory update which will take effect on June 3rd, 2024.
In 2023, Google stopped supporting an old way of delivering push notifications. This means that
applications, which don’t support the new API won’t receive any push notifications. Without push
notification, if the application is in the background or closed the user won’t be able to receive:
• Incoming calls
• Notification about new chat messages
• Notification about new voicemail
NEC introduced support for the new API in Android 2.43 version of the CONNECT Mobile Client (it was
available in March of this year), but not all users have updated their mobile client.
On June 3rd, we will enable a mandatory update request in the mobile client applications, which are older
than 2.43 version. This means that end-users who are still using an older version for some reason, will see
a pop-up which will block their ability to use the mobile client and will force them to install a new version
from the apps store.
