Desktop dialing is based on the Microsoft Graphics Device Interface (GDI).

Over time Microsoft has introduced other versions (e.g. Direct 2D), which have replaced the GDI. This leads to the situation that Desktop Dialing will not work with Microsoft’s latest Operating Systems. Desktop Dialing is also not supported by Apple MAC OS based systems. If the Desktop Dialing is not, or after an update, is no longer supported by the operating system, the applications Clipboard Dialing method should be used instead.
